Motor Mounts: BFI Stage 1 Torque Arm Insert / Dogbone Insert (2009+)
The pendulum mount (also known by VW as the “torque arm” or as “dogbone”) limits the rotational movement of the engine under hard acceleration. The factory bushings do a satisfactory job in limiting vibrations but only during normal sedate driving conditions. When pushed to hard acceleration the factory bushings flex and add to the dreaded “wheel hop” phenomenon.
The pendulum mount torque arm insert fills the voids in the factory stock rubber bushing, making it behave like a solid mount. When you install the insert, you will notice better throttle response and more crisp and defined, particularly on manual transmission cars.
The mounts are made to be a more comfortable option while still offering significant performance over the factory stock bushings. Mounts are made from the highest quality (70a) durometer polyurethane. Each insert is pressure injection molded to insure a consistent hardness throughout the mount for long life even under hard driving conditions.
